Obama tells Letterman of showing off his ‘dad moves’ in front of Prince
Michelle Obama once famously showed off her “mom dancing” skills, and now former President Barack Obama is boasting of his “dad moves.”
The ex-commander in chief describes his dance style to David Letterman in a preview clip released Wednesday from the former “Late Show” host’s new Netflix series, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.”
In the interview, Obama reveals an encounter with his now-16-year-old daughter, Sasha, and Prince just months before the “When Doves Cry” singer’s death in 2016.

“This was probably three or four months before he died, and Prince asks Sasha to come up and dance, and she’s an excellent dancer,” Obama said.
“Then Sasha pulls me up — which surprises me because she always mocks my dancing — but I have dad moves,” Obama said to laughs.
“I think the key is,” Obama said, “what we call staying in the pocket.”
“You’ve got to stay in the pocket. Because I think everybody in here knows dads who get out of the pocket,” a grinning Obama, 56, continued. “And they’re trying stuff that they can’t really pull off.”
“They start doing like karate kicks and all kinds of stuff,” Obama added.
While his wife is known to bust a move in public, Obama has rarely been seen letting loose on the dance floor.
In 2013, Michelle Obama appeared on “The Tonight Show” and showed off some moves with host Jimmy Fallon in a sketch called “The Evolution of Mom Dancing.” She also danced onstage at the White House Easter Egg Roll in 2015 to promote her Let’s Move! anti-childhood obesity initiative.
The first episode of Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” premieres on Netflix on Friday.
