Comedien and actress Roseanne Barr said Thursday that the 2016 election and having President Trump in the White House have been “great for comedy.”
Ahead of the reboot of “Roseanne” next month, Barr told ABC’s “20/20” that Trump’s message resonates with Americans.
“Trump offended half of America, and [Hillary Clinton] offended the other half. So that’s great for sitcoms. It’s great for comedy. We’re lucky to have him as a president. It’s great for comedy,” Barr said in an interview with ABC’s “20/20.”
“He talked about jobs, so, that’s what you need to do if you want working people to vote for you. Not Syrian airspace. I don’t think Hillary talked about jobs much. She always was talking about Syrian airspace,” Barr said.
{mosads}Barr has been a vocal Trump supporter since the 2016 election. Her latest comments came as she promoted the reboot of her eponymous sitcom.
Barr has said the update of “Roseanne,” which premieres next month, will depict a family tackling issues in the Trump era. Barr will reportedly portray a grandmother who voted for Trump and at times clashes with family members with opposing views.
Sara Gilbert, who returns as one of Barr’s daughters on the show, previously said the new episodes show a family “divided by politics but still filled with love.”
The original “Roseanne” aired on ABC from 1988 to 1997.
