Billboard vandalized to read ‘Kill the NRA’ after Florida shooting

A billboard in Louisville, Ky., was vandalized to read “Kill the NRA” after the mass shooting at a Florida high school last week.

The billboard also featured the tag “Resist 45,” which is an opposition group to President Trump.

Images of the vandalized billboard circulated Monday on social media, the Courier-Journal reported Tuesday. A spokesman for the company that owns the billboard, Outfront Media, told the Journal that the message was “immediately removed.”

The National Rifle Association (NRA) also shared an image of the billboard on its official Facebook page on Monday.

“To all American gun owners, this is a wakeup call. They’re coming after us,” the NRA’s post read.

The NRA has faced staunch criticism following the mass shooting at a Florida high school last week that left 17 people dead.

Student survivors of the shooting are demanding action on gun control, singling out the NRA for its work to lobby against restricting gun rights.

The New York Daily News and a writer for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” took to Twitter to point out Republican members of Congress that have taken donations from the NRA.

Trump indicated Monday he supports gun background check legislation in response to the shooting.

“The president is supportive of efforts to improve the federal background check system,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.
