Even though Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) is headed for re-election, he’s unwilling to be seen with the Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, writes Josh Marshall. Political analyst Charlie Cook likened the conviction of Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) on Monday to the day in 2006 that the page scandal involving Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) broke, writes Marshall. Stevens’s conviction could make things even worse for Republicans in a year when things were already going bad, just like Foley did, Cook wrote.
