Trump touts achievements he’s made for women on International Women’s Day
President Trump on Thursday touted the achievements he said his administration has made for women in a statement marking International Women’s Day.
“As we mark International Women’s Day, we remain committed to the worthwhile mission of enhancing women’s leadership in the world and building a stronger America for all,” Trump said in a statement.
{mosads}Trump cited the administration’s work to promote female entrepreneurs, such as the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi), as well as the “2X Women’s Initiative,” which works to support women in emerging markets.
The president also referenced his signing of the Women, Peace and Security Act, which promotes women working in the conflict prevention and post-conflict peace fields. He also mentioned his administration’s work to support women in small business.
Earlier in the day, Trump had acknowledged International Women’s Day in a tweet, referencing first lady Melania Trump’s upcoming appearance at the International Women of Courage ceremony at the State Department.

Despite the administration’s initiatives involving women, Trump has faced fierce criticism for his rhetoric toward women and for a slew of sexual misconduct allegations.
Numerous women accused Trump of sexual misconduct before he entered office. Many have cited his remarks in the 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape — in which he openly bragged about grabbing women without their consent — as an example of such misconduct.
The White House and Trump have maintained that all women who have accused Trump of sexual harassment are lying.
The first Women’s March, which attracted millions of people around the world, took place a day after Trump was sworn into office last year, and was considered a response to Trump’s election.
Trump acknowledged the second Women’s March in January, urging women to focus on economic successes since he became president.
Beautiful weather all over our great country, a perfect day for all Women to March. Get out there now to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months. Lowest female unemployment in 18 years!
