Man dies in fire at Trump Tower

One person has died after a four-alarm fire broke out at Trump Tower in Manhattan on Saturday, ABC 7 News in New York reported.

The New York Fire Department responded to a four-alarm fire on the 50th floor of the building shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday. Three firefighters have sustained non-life threatening injuries.

President Trump tweeted about the incident shortly after initial reports, saying that the fire was under control and thanking local firefighters for their quick response.

The fire department initially said the blaze was a three-alarm fire, but later updated it to a four-alarm. That update came after Trump’s tweet saying the fire had been put out.

A video posted on Twitter by the fire department after Trump’s tweet showed a fire still burning high up in the building, though it wasn’t immediately clear how recently the video was taken.

The fire department responded to a minor fire in a cooling tower on the roof of the building in January. Two people sustained minor injuries in that incident.
