Daughter of US ambassador to Russia criticizes Trump over press conference with Putin

Fox News host Abby Huntsman — whose father, Jon Huntsman, is the U.S. ambassador to Russia — criticized President Trump on Monday for his performance at a press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Jon Huntsman father joined Trump in Helsinki, Finland, for the meeting with Putin.

{mosads}Standing next to the Russian president during a joint press conference, Trump did not press or condemn Putin for Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, just days after indictments were delivered against 12 Russian nationals for their alleged role in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee.

Instead, Trump asserted that he did not collude with Russia in the election, recounted his victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and called the special counsel investigation “ridiculous” and a source of tension between the two countries.

The remarks were widely criticized by media personalities on Fox News, CNN and NBC, who lamented that Trump was siding with Moscow over the conclusions of his own intelligence community.

Analysts and anchors called the press conference “surreal,” “embarrassing” and “disgusting.”
