Ventura Wants Anyone Who Backed the Iraq War Ousted

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura (I) said that the issue that could push him into the race is the Iraq war.

“I despise anyone that voted for the Iraq war,” he said on CNN Friday. “And I think that anyone that did vote for the Iraq war ought to be taken out of office because they got duped. And we don’t need people getting duped when it comes to going to war. And I feel that everybody that voted to go to the Iraq war should be taken out of office.”

Ventura is considering jumping into the race for Minnesota’s Senate seat between incumbent Norm Coleman (R) and Democrat Al Franken. The filing deadline for the race is Tuesday.

Ventura also said on CNN that he would likely serve just one term, as he had done when he was the Beaver State’s governor and as a mayor.

“One of the major problems of our country today is career politicians, people who make a living at getting elected by these two parties,” he said. “There’s no fresh thoughts. I mean, I heard the other day, and don’t quote me on this, but I heard there’s 23 senators older than John McCain currently serving.”
