Dem pollster: Female candidates will be ‘source of strength’ in midterms

Democratic pollster Carly Cooperman said Monday that female candidates will be a “source of strength for Democrats” in November’s midterm elections.

“The fact that there [are] now 11 women who are running for governor this fall, that they’re going to be on ballots, that’s unprecedented,” Cooperman told Hill.TV’s Joe Concha on “What America’s Thinking.”

“I think that’s going to be a very strong source of strength for Democrats this fall,” she continued.

Cooperman said that the number of women who have won Democratic primaries so far could help the party win over key voting groups, such as suburban women.

The number of female governor and House candidates has broken records this year, with 185 women seeking House seats in November.

The previous high was in 2016 when 167 ran in general election House races.
