ISIS claims one of its members carried out Paris knife attack

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility for a knife attack in Paris that left two dead Thursday, according to Reuters.

ISIS wrote on its Amaq news agency that the attacker was an “Islamic State fighter” but did not provide evidence, Reuters reported.

ISIS has previously claimed responsibility for attacks that police have found no link and French Interior Minister Gérard Collomb told reporters that authorities aren’t treating the incident as an act of terrorism, according to NPR.

{mosads}Authorities said the attacker killed two people, his mother and his sister, and wounded another before he was killed by police, according to media reports. The attack occurred in Trappes, a Paris suburb.

Colomb wrote on Twitter that the attacker had an “unbalanced psychiatric history.”

The attack comes about three months after one person was killed and four were wounded in a separate knife attack in Paris. ISIS also claimed responsibility for that attack.
