Trump on Obama speech: ‘I fell asleep’

President Trump on Friday shrugged off a speech made by former President Obama in which he delivered a blistering rebuke of Trump’s leadership.

“I’m sorry. I watched it, but I fell asleep. I found he’s very good — very good for sleeping,” Trump said during a fundraiser in Fargo, N.D.

Trump also hit Obama for claiming credit for a run of strong job growth, which began during the 44th president’s time in office.

{mosads}”He was trying to take credit for this incredible thing that’s happening to our country,” Trump said, accusing Obama of presiding over the “weakest recovery in the history of our country” since the Great Depression.

During remarks at the University of Illinois, Obama condemned Trump and called on Americans to vote against Republicans in the November midterm elections.

Obama said America is “not normal” under Trump and accused the president of fueling racial divisions while undermining democratic principles.

“He is a symptom, not the cause,” Obama said of Trump. “He’s just capitalizing on resentments politicians have been fanning for years.”

The former president also defended his record against the near-constant attacks from Trump.

“Let’s just remember when this recovery started,” Obama said. “I have to kind of remind them those jobs numbers are kind of the same as they were in 2015 and 2016.”
