Trump weighing ‘three or four’ locations for second North Korea summit

President Trump on Tuesday said his administration is preparing for a second summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and they are considering three or four locations.

“It is happening and we’re setting that up right now,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, adding that “we’ll probably do a different location” than their first meeting in Singapore.

“We’re talking about three or four different locations,” he said.

Trump heaped praise on Kim and said the media has been unfair in critiquing the progress of the president’s push to denuclearize North Korea.

“I like him. He likes me,” Trump said of the North Korean leader.

Regional experts have questioned whether Kim has followed through on his promise to dismantle key parts of his nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

Nonetheless, Trump has decided to push ahead with a second meeting, believing his relationship with Kim can result in a breakthrough.

The president said he has spoken with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo following his meeting Sunday with Kim and top North Korean officials. Trump will have lunch with Pompeo later Tuesday.
