Dating app for Trump supporters leaked its users’ data on launch day: report
A new dating app for Trump supporters leaked its entire database of users on the day of its launch, according to a Monday report from TechCrunch.
DonaldDaters launched Monday for Apple and Android devices with the hope of encouraging young conservatives to meet and mingle.
The app markets itself as an “American-based singles community connecting lovers, friends, and Trump supporters alike.”
TechCrunch reported that the app had more than 1,600 users on the day that it launched and a security researcher was able to download the entire user database — including names, profile pictures, devices and private messages.
{mosads}Elliot Alderson, a French security researcher, shared the database with the site.
He was also able to access tokens which can reportedly be used to take over DonaldDaters accounts.
I made a small proof of concept to show how the database of the Donald Daters app is vulnerable. With this POC I can:
– see all private messages
– see all user info
– delete what I want: a message, an user, the all database, … pic.twitter.com/7doErhzYdY— Elliot Alderson (@fs0c131y) October 15, 2018
The tech outlet said the data was publicly available through an exposed Firebase data repository.
TechCrunch reported the leak to the app maker and the data has since been taken offline.
The dating app touts its security measures on its website, saying that all personal information is “kept private.”
The Hill has reached out to DonaldDaters for comment.

Emily Moreno, DonaldDaters’s founder and a former campaign aide to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), said in a Monday statement that it is “nearly impossible” for young conservatives and Trump supporters to date.
“Support for the president has become a dealbreaker instead of an icebreaker,” she said. “That’s why we created a new platform for Trump supporters to meet people without being afraid of talking politics.”
