GOP lawmaker: Trump comments about Stormy Daniels ‘unpresidential’
Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) on Tuesday condemned President Trump’s attack on Stormy Daniels’ appearance as “unpresidential” and “rude,” and lamented that the president’s behavior on Twitter undermines his accomplishments.
“It’s not appropriate for anyone to call someone that under any circumstances,” Stewart said on CNN when asked about Trump calling Daniels “horseface.”
The president mocked Daniels and her attorney, Michael Avenatti, after a federal judge dismissed a defamation lawsuit they brought against Trump.
{mosads}”It’s inappropriate and it’s frankly unnecessary,” Stewart said of Trump’s reaction. “For heaven’s sakes, he won on this. It was a victory for him. He could’ve said nothing and just left it at that.”
Stewart appeared exasperated when asked why Trump issues such tweets. He said the remarks undercut Trump’s “meaningful accomplishments” on the economy, regulatory reform and the Supreme Court.
“He has had a successful presidency, and it doesn’t help the narrative or the memory that will be left with him to have incidents like this, that is just unpresidential and not helpful,” Stewart said.

The president lashed out at Daniels amid a 12-tweet outburst on Tuesday morning that touched on a number of topics.
It was not the first time the president has mocked a woman’s appearance. He derided Rosie O’Donnell as a “pig,” insulted then-Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina’s looks during a 2015 debate, claimed MSNBC host Mike Brzezinski showed up to a New Year’s Eve Party at Mar-a-Lago “bleeding badly from a face-lift”
