Feinstein would ‘absolutely’ reopen Kavanaugh investigation if Dems win Senate

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she “absolutely” favors reopening an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

As the top ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Feinstein would lead the committee and would have the authority to reopen the investigation if Democrats win the Senate in the midterm elections next month.

{mosads}During a debate in California Wednesday against Democratic challenger Kevin de León, Feinstein said she would “be in favor of opening up the allegations. Absolutely,” according to The Washington Post.

Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court earlier this month after being embroiled in controversy over claims of sexual misconduct against him.

Christine Blasey Ford was the first woman to come forward claiming Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in the early 1980s, initially sending a confidential letter to Feinstein before her name was leaked to the press.

Ford testified before the Judiciary Committee, telling senators that Kavanaugh drunkenly assaulted her at a high school party. Kavanaugh denied any wrongdoing.

A weeklong FBI investigation ensued, and Republicans on the committee said the investigation did not corroborate Ford’s claims. Democrats wanted a broader and more thorough investigation into Kavanaugh.
