Graham: The only people yelling at me ‘would turn the country into a mob’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said in a tweet on Monday that the only people yelling at him are those who want to turn the U.S. into a “mob.”

“All the people wanting to yell at me would turn the country into a mob … they don’t respect the presumption of innocence,” Graham tweeted.

The senator linked to a Fox News report on the protesters and cheers he faced while opening a rally for Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), a U.S. Senate candidate, on Sunday.

Shouting protesters repeatedly interrupted the rally, including a moment of silence for victims of a shooting in a synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday that left 11 people dead.

Some protesters reportedly had to be physically restrained and removed by authorities.

Graham has been a vocal advocate for the GOP since the confirmation fight over Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

During a fiery speech in the midst of a Senate hearing for Kavanaugh, Graham excoriated Democrats for their behavior.

He also expressed his hope earlier this month that Democrats “get their ass kicked” for their behavior during Kavanaugh’s confirmation process.

Graham has been promoting Republicans in the midterms and for the first time has been campaigning against fellow senators.
