Joe Scarborough: Trump was ‘humiliated’ and ‘weak’ at press conference

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough early Thursday tore into President Trump over his post-midterm press conference, calling him “humiliated” and “weak.”

Scarborough said on “Morning Joe” that Trump did not seem fully in control during the 1 1/2 hour question-and-answer period with the press.

{mosads}“Donald Trump was humiliated, he was weak, he was battered, he was confused, you could see him up there — he was baffled,” he said.

Scarborough also said that Trump’s headline-grabbing comments and actions during the press conference were a diversionary tactic.

Trump during the rare solo news conference at the White House sparred with reporters over his divisive rhetoric, warned Democrats about investigatory overreach and painted the midterms, in which Democrats took control of the House but Republicans maintained their Senate majority, as a success.

“There’s a reason he did it the day after he got trounced,” Scarborough said. “The day after Republicans had their worst electoral beating since Watergate.”

“The press shouldn’t take the bait — this is Donald Trump trying to distract from just how weak he is now, how vulnerable he is now.”

Scarborough also said it was “horrible” that Trump would suspend Jim Acosta’s press pass after a tense exchange between the president and the CNN White House correspondent at the news conference.

During the exchange, Acosta refused to let go of the microphone as a White House press aide attempted to take it from him.
