Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) and Democratic challenger Mike Espy are scheduled to hold their one and only debate on Tuesday night.
Hyde-Smith has recently received criticism over video shared by a blogger showed her joking that she’d be “on the front row” if she were invited to a “public hanging.”
Espy, who is vying to become the state’s first black senator since Reconstruction, ripped Hyde-Smith for the comment, calling it “reprehensible” and “hurtful.”
The debate is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
