Protesters host dance party outside Stephen Miller’s home

Protesters hosted a queer dance party outside the housing complex of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller on Wednesday night.

Activist group WERK for Peace organized the musical protest in opposition to Miller’s work on President Trump’s immigration policy, DCist reported.

The event, dubbed “#WERKNotWalls,” is calling for better treatment of migrants and refugees at the southern border.

Miller is “the architect behind the Muslim Ban and the architect behind the response to the migrant and refugee caravan that is currently making its way to the U.S.-Mexico border,” Firas Nasr, the founding organizer of WERK for Peace, told the outlet.

{mosads}“We wanted to shed light on him and on the Trump administration’s egregious response to the migrant and refugee caravan. What better way to do it than to bring a whole crowd of people dancing to Arabic music and Spanish music to him?” Nasr continued. 

The dance party began on the north side of the White House and moved toward Miller’s luxury complex. The Washington Post reported that Miller lives in a nearly $1 million condo in one of Washington’s most expensive and upscale buildings. 

DCist reported that Miller was out of town on Wednesday. The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment.

The protesters played drums and threw biodegradable confetti while chanting “Stephen Miller, what a villain, locking up immigrant children.”

WERK for Peace was formed following the 2016 massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

The group has hosted similar protests outside of the Washington, D.C., homes of Vice President Mike Pence and White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
