NewsNation, The Hill hire media critic Steve Krakauer

NewsNation, the cable news channel owned by Nexstar Media Group, has hired Steve Krakauer as a contributor, the network announced Thursday.

Krakauer will “offer commentary on the intersection between media and politics” when appearing on NewsNation, the network said.

In addition to his role as a contributor at the cable news channel, Krakauer is joining The Hill as a contributor.

Nexstar, one of the largest operators of local television stations across the country, purchased The Hill in the fall of 2021, and several of the publication’s journalists have been featured on NewsNation since.

The cable news network in April launched a panel-style table talk program branded “The Hill,” focusing on politics, policy and news of the day.

Krakauer is best known for his mostly sharp criticism of mainstream media outlets and members of the national press corps. He currently serves as the executive producer of SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

Before joining Kelly, Krakauer made a name for himself as a media critic, writer and pundit at online media-focused publications like TVNewser and Mediate.

Krakauer’s commentary and analysis have been featured predominantly in conservative media spaces in recent years, with the pundit making appearances on Fox News, popular right of center podcasts and other outlets catering to conservatives during his career.

“No one understands better than Steve how the media and politics intersect and shape our national conversation,” NewsNation President Michael Corn said in a statement announcing Krakauer’s hire. “Having worked as a journalist at major broadcast and cable networks, he not only brings a wealth of experience to NewsNation, but a deep understanding of how the media crafts stories and influences public opinion.”

NewsNation has made a number of other high-profile contributor hires since launching in 2021, including former top White House aides Mick Mulvaney, Sean Spicer and longtime Washington Post columnist George Will.

“We’re very excited to welcome Steve as an opinion contributor for The Hill’s growing Opinions section. The state of the media is changing and evolving, so having his analysis will be an excellent addition,” Joe Ruffolo, senior vice president and general manager of The Hill and NewsNation Digital, said in a statement.
