Anthony Weiner released from federal prison

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) has been released from a federal prison outside Boston and placed in a residential re-entry facility, The Associated Press reported Sunday.

Weiner reported to prison in November 2017 to begin a 21-month sentence for sending sexually explicit messages to a minor. The AP reported that the Federal Bureau of Prisons shows Weiner is in the custody of a Residential Re-entry Management office in Brooklyn, New York.

{mosads}The AP reported that it was not immediately clear when he was transferred or where he’s currently located.

The former congressman is scheduled to finish his sentence on May 14.

Weiner was sentenced to prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of the transfer of obscene materials to a minor. His sentence stipulated that he pay a $10,000 fine, take part in a treatment program and face online supervision upon his release from the Federal Medical Center in Devens, Mass. 

Weiner resigned from Congress in 2011 after sending lewd photos to women online.

Another sexting scandal in which Weiner used the pseudonym “Carlos Danger” torpedoed his 2013 campaign for New York City mayor.
