Conservative activist Charlie Kirk told Hill.TV on Wednesday that he believes President Trump will take concrete action on the issue of free speech on college campuses.
“I believe firmly that the White House is going to fulfill this,” Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, told hosts Buck Sexton and Juanita Tolliver on “Rising.”
Kirk’s organization advocates for conservative students at colleges across the country.
Conservative students and professors often say they face a liberal bias on most college campuses.
Trump said last week at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that he wants to sign an executive order mandating that colleges and universities take steps to guarantee free speech to attain federal research grants.
“Today I’m proud to announce that I will be very soon signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal research grants,” the president told CPAC attendees.
“The enthusiasm from the crowd was amazing at CPAC, but I had many liberals and left-leaning people reach out to me, and say this is something that is long overdue,” Kirk said.
