• Scott Boos is the new deputy director of the Alliance for American Manufacturing. Boos was a senior policy adviser to Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.). He also was the staff director of the Senate Steel Caucus.
• Sharon Ringley and Elizabeth Frazee have joined forces to create TwinLogic Strategies, a new government relations firm. Ringley was the deputy chief of staff for Rep. Rick Boucher (D-Va.) and was director of federal affairs for Amazon.com. Frazee was the legislative director and counsel for Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and director of government relations for the Walt Disney Co.
{mosads}• Margaret Stewart has been hired by Yahoo! Inc. as director of federal public policy in its Washington office. Stewart served as the assistant for legislative affairs to then-Vice President Dick Cheney. She also was the director of legislative affairs at the Office of Management and Budget for Directors Josh Bolten and Rob Portman and spent six years with the Senate Budget Committee.
• Lindsay Apfelbaum has joined the National Jewish Democratic Council as its new deputy development director. She was the Midwest deputy finance director for the Democratic National Committee. Apfelbaum also worked at the American Jewish Committee.
• Katherine Stange has joined HBW Resources as a communications associate. Stange will work with the Consumer Energy Alliance. She previously was an account coordinator for Levick Strategic Communications.
• A new group of hospitals and waste management companies, the Healthcare Waste and Emergency Preparedness Coalition, has been formed to raise awareness about two major issues facing the healthcare system today: operational sustainability of healthcare facilities during a crisis and the correct methods of discarding hazardous medical waste.
• Shannon Flaherty has joined the Herald Group as its new vice president. Flaherty was a spokeswoman for former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) and also worked for then-Reps. Jennifer Dunn (R-Wash.) and Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio). Before joining the firm, Flaherty worked for First Principles, a Washington consulting firm.
