Biden calls Putin a ‘crazy SOB’
President Biden on Wednesday called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB” and bashed former President Trump for his reaction to the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
Biden was talking about climate change at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Calif., when he referred to Putin as an acronym for “son of a bitch.”
“This is the last existential threat, it is climate. We have a crazy SOB like that guy Putin, and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate,” he said.
The president has squarely blamed Putin for Navalny’s death in a Russian prison last week. Biden also took aim at Trump, who didn’t mention Putin in his response to Navalny’s death, and instead complained about prosecutors, judges and Democrats conspiring against him.
“If I stood here 10 to 15 years ago and said all this, you’d all think I should be committed,” Biden said of Trump’s comments.
The president said that Republicans once had an “American moral center, but that seems to be lost.”
The comment comes after Biden knocked Trump on Tuesday for his response to Navalny’s death, saying he refuses to hold Putin accountable for it.
The White House is set to release a major sanctions package against Russia on Friday. It is expected to hold Russia accountable for what happened to the opposition leader and add to the sanctions against Russia since the start of the war.
