US women’s soccer team jersey is Nike’s No. 1 seller heading into World Cup finals
As the U.S. women’s national soccer team heads to the World Cup finals in hopes of a fourth championship title, supporters have made their jersey a top-seller on Nike’s website.
The team’s home jersey is the top-selling soccer jersey ever on the company’s website for one season, Nike communications director Heidi Burgett announced.

The jersey sells for $90 on the Nike website. It has “One nation. One team,” printed on the inside and three stars on the upper back representing the number of times the team has won the world title.

Ahead of the team’s semi-finals win, Nike sparked backlash for pulling a planned Betsy Ross flag shoe design following reported opposition from former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, the face of the company’s “Just Do It” campaign.
Kaepernick suggested the flag was offensive due to its slavery-era ties, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Kaepernick did not comment in the story.
The decision to pull the shoe’s design was widely criticized by conservatives, including a number of Republican lawmakers.
The team has also been the talk of the political sphere amid star player Megan Rapinoe’s feud with President Trump. Rapinoe said in a video last month that she’s “not going to the f—ing White House” if the team wins the World Cup, prompting Trump to fire back on Twitter and say Rapinoe “should WIN first before she TALKS.”
