Trump taps Monica Crowley to be Treasury spokeswoman

President Trump announced Tuesday that he plans to appoint former Fox News contributor Monica Crowley to be the next spokeswoman for the Treasury Department.

Crowley, who left the Fox News channel in 2016 and currently serves as the department’s senior adviser for public affairs, will serve as an assistant Treasury secretary for public affairs, according to the release.

{mosads}Crowley previously bowed out of a bid to join the National Security Council as a press secretary in 2017 after CNN’s KFile reported that her book, “What the (Bleep) Just Happened,” and her Ph.D. thesis contained instances of plagiarism.

The former Fox News analyst denied those reports and instead went to work later that year for political analyst and consultant Douglas Schoen, who at the time was working for Victor Pinchuk, a Ukrainian oligarch.

News of Crowley’s potential appointment was first reported by Bloomberg in April. Several other former Fox News personalities have preceded Crowley into the Trump administration, including Heather Nauert, who formerly served at the State Department.

Crowley’s appointment follows the departure of former spokesman Tony Sayegh, who left the agency in May.
