Ivanka Trump urges support for groups that ‘uplift’ Baltimore amid father’s criticism of city
White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump on Tuesday voiced support for policies and organizations that help “uplift the great people” of Baltimore, but she did not weigh in on her father’s recent attacks on the city and its lawmakers.
“In spring 2017, after visiting the Center for Entrepreneurship at the Greater Baltimore Urban League, I donated proceeds from my book to fund a @NatUrbanLeague Women’s Initiative, incubated in Baltimore, to assist women in starting and growing successful businesses,” the president’s eldest daughter tweeted.
“I encourage everyone to advance smart policy and/or support organizations that uplift the great people of ‘Charm City,’” she added, referring to the city by its nickname.

Trump donated $100,000 of the proceeds from her 2017 book “Women Who Work” to the National Urban League after attending a roundtable with local Baltimore business owners, National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial, former deputy national security adviser Dina Powell, and then-Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon, according to CNN.
{mosads}President Trump blasted Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) on Saturday for criticizing his administration’s policies on the southern border. He called Baltimore, which is part of Cummings’s district, a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”
The president kept up his attacks on Cummings, accusing him in a tweet of doing “NOTHING for his very poor, very dangerous and very badly run district.” Trump has also gone after critics who characterized the tweets as racist.
Someone please explain to Nancy Pelosi, who was recently called racist by those in her own party, that there is nothing wrong with bringing out the very obvious fact that Congressman Elijah Cummings has done a very poor job for his district and the City of Baltimore. Just take…
