RFK daughter on Biden endorsement: ‘This is the most important election of my lifetime’

Kerry Kennedy is doubling down on her family’s commitment to support President Biden in November’s election instead of her brother, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has launched a long-shot independent bid for the White House.

“I think, you know, this is the most important election of my lifetime,” Kerry Kennedy told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The Biden campaign is expecting 15 members of the Kennedy family to endorse the president Thursday at a campaign stop in Philadelphia. The Kennedy family has been at odds with RFK Jr. and his campaign, warning that his election would be “dangerous” for the country.

On “GMA,” Kerry Kennedy pointed to the need to get Biden elected, saying there is “no competition” when it comes to supporting the president. She praised Biden for “carrying on the legacies” of her father, Robert F. Kennedy, and her uncle, former President John F. Kennedy.

“I think the point here today is electing Joe Biden. It’s a two-man race. There’s only two people in this race who can get to 270 electoral votes: Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Joe Biden stands for the middle class; Joe Biden has built up our economy. Under Joe Biden’s leadership, crime has gone down 10 percent over the last several years,” she said.

“He is an extraordinary leader. He cares deeply. He shares my family’s values. We need every single person to go and vote for Joe Biden. If everyone who can vote goes out and votes, Joe Biden wins. And that’s what we’re here to do today,” she added.

Kerry Kennedy is expected to echo those comments in her endorsement of Biden later on Thursday.

“I can only imagine how Donald Trump’s outrageous lies and behavior would have horrified my father, Robert F. Kennedy, who proudly served as attorney general of the United States and honored his pledge to uphold the law and protect the country,” Kerry Kennedy will say in her endorsement, according to excerpts provided by the Biden campaign.
