Florida teen faces charges for allegedly punching man dressed as Trump at Halloween fair
A 14-year-old girl in Florida faces a battery charge after she allegedly punched a man dressed up as President Trump during a Halloween fair, the Naples Daily News reported.
The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday at the Collier County fairgrounds, according to a sheriff’s office report obtained by The Hill.
A man told police that he was dressed as Trump and waiting in line to go through a haunted house exhibit with his wife and stepdaughter when a young girl walked up and punched him in the jaw.{mosads}
The girl then “laughed and ran back to her place in line” with several other juveniles, according to the victim’s statement in the police report.
The victim said he approached her, asked why she had punched him and expressed that he just wanted to have a nice time with his family. It is unclear what else occurred during the confrontation.
The man then went to find a fair worker so he could press charges with law enforcement.
The incident report details how a deputy questioned the girl and her parents. A woman claiming to be a Collier County School system employee then notified officials that the incident had been recorded and posted on Instagram.
The deputy interviewing the teen told her that an investigator with the sheriff’s office may follow up at a later date because the sole motivation of the crime “was to strike ‘Trump.’”
The 14-year-old faces a misdemeanor charge of battery — intentionally causing bodily harm to another.
