Hillary Clinton: ‘World Series champs should get statehood’

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed support for statehood for Washington, D.C., in a tweet Thursday, following the Washington Nationals’ victory in the World Series the night before.

{mosads}Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, joined a chorus of voices that includes several current Democratic presidential candidates arguing that the District should get full congressional representation and voting rights.

Statehood proponents point out that D.C. has a greater population than Wyoming and Vermont, but lacks voting members in the House or Senate.

The Nationals on Wednesday defeated the Houston Astros 6-2 in Game 7 of the World Series. It is the Nationals’ first MLB championship.
