Ronny Jackson on Biden mental fitness: ‘He’s got significant issues’

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), a former White House physician, weighed in on President Biden’s mental fitness after a report raised questions of his capabilities, saying the president has “significant issues.”

Jackson spoke with Fox News Digital on Wednesday after The Wall Street Journal published a report on the president’s performance headlined, “Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping.”

“The article’s just documenting what I’ve been saying all along: he’s not fit to be the commander in chief,” Jackson said. “He’s got significant issues, he shouldn’t have the job. You know, it’s a national security issue for us.”

Jackson served as the top White House physician for former Presidents Obama and Trump.

The Journal report was based on interviews with more than 40 people over several months, including both Republicans and Democrats who say Biden would read from notes in meetings, sometimes defer questions to his aides and at times speak so quietly it wasn’t audible or close his eyes.

White House officials and Biden’s allies have blasted the report, pointing out past comments from Republicans about Biden’s mental sharpness.

“Surprise, surprise—everyone attacking @POTUS is a Republican with an agenda,” Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) posted on the social platform X, saying she was interviewed for the piece but was not quoted.

“I made clear to the @WSJ regarding the January meeting on Ukraine that the President was absolutely engaged & ran that meeting in a way that brought everyone together. I’m not quoted— I wonder why.”

Jackson said he has sent five letters to the White House asking Biden to take a cognitive test and make the results public.

The Journal report is the latest piece to raise questions about Biden’s age, which remains a top concern for voters heading into November’s election. The 81-year-old president would be 86 at the end of another term. He’s four years older than former President Trump, his presumptive opponent.
