Watch live: D-Day 80th anniversary celebration in Normandy
In observance of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, President Biden on Thursday delivered an address from near the shores of Normandy. It was on that region’s beaches, along its cliffs and in its fields, that Allied troops began the liberation of France from Nazi occupation on June 6, 1944.
Against the historic backdrop, Biden’s visit is also part of his effort to reaffirm U.S. leadership in NATO in its commitment to the defense of Ukraine.
