NYPD releases video of man plastering swastika inside subway station elevator

Security footage released by the New York Police Department shows a man fashioning a swastika on a subway station elevator on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, according to Fox 5 New York.

In the video, the man can be seen building a swastika out of Metropolitan Transportation Authority service advisory flyers at the 96th Street Station for the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lines at about 6:20 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2019, police said.

This act, along with other anti-Semitic incidents in New York City and other parts of the nation, sparked steadfast remarks from Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).

“I’m disgusted by the report of an individual posting a swastika made out of flyers in a subway station in Manhattan recently,” Cuomo said in a statement. 

This incident comes after an anti-Semitic attack on Dec. 28 in which five victims were stabbed during a Hanukkah celebration at a rabbi’s home.

“Anti-Semitism is a scourge afflicting this nation, and it must be stamped out,” Cuomo said. “New York is a place of diversity and acceptance — not hate — and we will continue to stand united in condemning these vile acts.”
