Airbus agrees to settlement with US, other nations
Airbus announced Tuesday it has agreed to settle with U.S., French and British investigators as part of a probe into allegations of bribery and corruption.
The agreements remain subject to approval by U.S., French and British courts.
The company said it will not comment on details of its discussions for legal reasons.
Reuters reports that some industry analysts suggested sums as high as 5 billion euros, or about $5.5 million, and other press reports cite a figure around 3 billion euros, or about $3.3 billion.
Airbus faced U.S. investigations over suspected violations of export controls, and had been investigated by French and British authorities for suspected corruption over jet sales, according to Reuters.
It was not clear if the settlement would lead to any pursuit of prosecution against individuals, Reuters reported.
