Watch live: Biden holds event focused on support for Ukraine

President Biden is slated to host an event Wednesday afternoon in New York City with world leaders to launch a joint declaration of support for Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction amid its ongoing war with Russia.

The event comes a day after Biden gave his final address before the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) where he reaffirmed his commitment to Ukraine. In his message, he pressed other allies to stand up for the war-torn country.

“The good news is, [Russian President Vladimir Putin’s] war has failed at his core aim. He set out to destroy Ukraine; Ukraine is still free,” Biden said in his speech, adding later that, “The world now has another choice to make. Will we sustain our support to help Ukraine win this war and preserve its freedom? Or walk away and let aggregation be renewed and a nation be destroyed.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke before the UNGA Wednesday morning, warning that Russia is preparing for a nuclear attack.

Zelensky will travel to Washington Thursday, where he will meet with Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House.

The event is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
