Jill Biden hitting campaign trail for Harris
First lady Jill Biden is hitting the campaign trail for Vice President Harris, embarking on a battleground state swing less than a month before Election Day.
Her trip starts Friday with a campaign event in Yuma, Ariz., and then she will campaign in Phoenix on Saturday. On Sunday, the first lady will visit northern Nevada and then will travel to the Detroit suburbs and to Madison, Wis., on Monday.
Biden will be in her hometown of Philadelphia on Tuesday, courting voters in the suburbs for Harris.
The first lady will focus on highlighting Harris’s plans to protect reproductive rights, strengthen democracy and bolster the economy while on the trail.
The campaign swing for the Democratic presidential nominee comes as President Biden is in Berlin for an international trip.
Jill Biden was in the spotlight in July while her husband mulled over his political future amid pressure from Democrats to drop of the 2024 race after his poor debate performance against former President Trump. She is known as President Biden’s most loyal supporter, dubbed the defender in chief, and is part of his decisionmaking process.
Before the president dropped out of the race, his campaign deployed the first lady to work on winning over female voters through the “Women for Biden-Harris” effort that involved her traveling to battleground states. President Biden then dropped out of the presidential race on July 21 and endorsed Harris to lead the ticket in November.
