JetBlue to give 100,000 health professionals round-trip flight vouchers
JetBlue announced Wednesday it would it would provide 100,000 health care workers with a pair of round-trip flight vouchers to honor their work on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.
The company will start by donating 10,000 pairs of tickets to New York health care professionals. People can nominate their favorite health care worker for a chance to win one of the other 90,000 pairs of round-trip vouchers.
“JetBlue is now calling on customers to thank the healthcare heroes in their life – from doctors and nurses, to pharmacists, therapists, social workers, public health administrators and more – by nominating them for a chance to receive one of 90,000 pairs of roundtrip flight certificates for two to use when the time is right,” the statement said. “Starting today through May 15, 2020, customers can submit a brief description of why they are nominating their healthcare hero.”
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) touted the announcement on Wednesday.
JetBlue “is donating a pair of round-trip flights to 100,000 medical personnel and nurses to honor their efforts, beginning with 10,000 NY medical professionals,” Cuomo tweeted during his press briefing. “What a great way to thank so many of our frontline heroes.”

The 10,000 New York health care professionals include those in the “Mount Sinai Health System, including their Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island campuses, as well as at NYC Health + Hospitals,” according to the company.
Additionally, JetBlue announced that it would be flying three New York-themed liveries over New York City on Thursday at 7 p.m. — the same time New Yorkers have been going outside each day to applaud health care workers for the job they are doing.
During his press briefing, Cuomo noted that Wednesday is National Nurses Day, giving a heartfelt thank you to the nurses who are on the front lines.
