Vox’s Matthew Yglesias says U.S. needs to grow population to maintain spot on ‘global stage’

Vox co-founder Matthew Yglesias said Wednesday the U.S. population needs to grow in order for the nation to “maintain” its “number one spot on the global stage.”

“What we need to do to sort of maintain America’s preeminence is, of course we need to try and build our economy and do what we can, but we need more people,” Yglesias said on The Hill.TV’s “Rising,” while discussing his new book “One Billion Americans: The Case for Thinking Bigger.”

He said the U.S. needs to take action to be “smarter about immigration policy” and welcome more people in, and also help families be able to have the number of kids they say they want.
