Empire State Building to be lit up in red, white and blue for Ginsburg

The Empire State building will be lit up in red, white and blue Friday evening in honor of late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, according to the building’s calendar.

Ginsburg, a Brooklyn native, died last Friday of complications with pancreatic cancer. She was 87.

The liberal justice was the second woman appointed to the high court and served for 27 years.

Ginsburg lied in repose at the Supreme Court on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, she became the first woman to lie in state in the Capitol, underscoring her impact as a trailblazer for women.

Ginsburg will be buried beside her husband, Martin, in a private ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery next week. Martin Ginsburg died in 2010.
