‘Daily Show’ to broadcast live on election night
“The Daily Show” plans to continue its tradition of broadcasting live as results come in on election night.
The one-hour Nov. 3 special episode, dubbed “Votegasm 2020: What Could go Wrong? (Again),” will air live on both coasts and will stream on social media channels, Comedy Central said Thursday.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show will “broadcast from its election fallout shelter” in New York, according to a tongue-in-cheek statement from the cable network. The Trevor Noah-hosted show promises to “provide up-to-the-minute news and analysis on the results of the presidential race” along with “guest interviews and coverage from the news team.”
Live election coverage is something of a tradition for Comedy Central’s late-night satirical news program. “The Daily Show” has gone live on the night of presidential elections since 2000.
