Detroit asks federal judge to disbar ‘Kraken’ team that fought in court to overturn election results
The city of Detroit is calling for attorneys Sidney Powell, Lin Wood and their colleagues to be disbarred over their attempts to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, according to reports from The New York Times and Law and Crime.
The city has requested that a federal judge penalize the attorneys through sanctions, including removing their ability to practice law in the Eastern District of Michigan and issuing fines.

“We have been horrified by the inappropriate actions of these attorneys and the plaintiffs themselves, and we have intended to seek any sanction the court can order,” Detroit’s counsel David Fink told Law and Crime.
Powell filed a lawsuit in Michigan in November that alleged President-elect Joe Biden’s victory was a result of election fraud. The suit was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Linda Parker shortly after.
In December, an early version of the sanctions motion become public. Detroit argued that despite how frivolous the lawsuits filed by Powell and her team may be, they still put doubt in the public’s mind over the legitimacy of the election, according to Law and Crime.
Parker is set to review the new sanctions case put forward by Detroit.
