Three more major companies suspend PAC donations after Capitol riots

Three more corporations have suspended political donations following the deadly riots at the Capitol on Jan. 6, dealing another blow to GOP lawmakers.

Dozens of companies have halted their campaign contributions, and a report Tuesday from The Washington Post found that Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Ernst & Young — who are some of the biggest corporate donors to congressional Republicans who objected to the electoral results in Arizona and Pennsylvania — are now among those hitting pause.

The Washington Post contacted the 30 companies that have donated the most to the lawmakers who objected to certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory, and 20 had suspended their donations.

The donations from the 30 companies to the 147 House Republicans amounted to $37 million between 2015 and 2020, the Post reported, citing data from the Center for Political Accountability.

Lockheed Martin had donated $651,000, Boeing contributed $567,000 and Ernst & Young donated $347,500.

Other companies such as Comcast, Amazon, Marriott, Dow Chemicals and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association have announced they are ending donations to the House electoral objectors.

House lawmakers are scrambling to maintain their relationships with donors. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who voted against certifying the election results, has been calling multiple donors in an attempt to assure them that GOP lawmakers will be able to work with the incoming Biden administration despite the riot.
