A majority of voters in say an infrastructure bill should be prioritized by the federal government now instead of focusing on other issues first, according to a new Hill-HarrisX poll.
Fifty-four percent of registered voters in the March 12-14 survey said infrastructure should currently be considered a priority.
By contrast, 46 percent of respondents said other issues should be prioritized instead of infrastructure.
The topic of an infrastructure package saw bipartisan support according to survey results.
Sixty percent of Democratic voters and 54 percent of independents said they were in favor of prioritizing an infrastructure bill now over other issues.
Fifty-four percent of Republican voters said other issues should be considered first.
The most recent polling comes after Democrats passed a $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill through the process of reconciliation. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) this month encouraged lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to come together to propose bold legislation on an infrastructure overhaul.
The White House has also signaled its next package to be focused on infrastructure.
However, Senate Republicans have panned the idea of raising taxes to help pay for a large infrastructure package, signally an uphill climb for Democrats and President Biden on the effort.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 2,818 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 1.85 percentage points.
