Voters are split on whether the Biden administration has been transparent about its inner workings thus far, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Forty-five percent of registered voters in the March 19-22 survey said the Biden administration has been about the right amount of transparent about its inner workings thus far.
Forty-four percent said there’s been too little transparency while 11 percent said there’s been too much transparency.
Seventy-four percent of Republican voters said there’s been too little transparency in the Biden White House.
Seventy-two percent of Democratic voters said the Biden administration has been about the right amount of transparent, along with a plurality, 47 percent, of independent voters.
President Biden made transparency a focal point on the campaign trail.
Critics have scrutinized Biden for waiting longer than preceding presidents to hold an official press conference after entering office.
A recent Hill-HarrisX poll found a slim majority, 52 percent, of voters say Biden’s lack of press conferences is not creating transparency issues for his administration.
Biden on Thursday held his first formal news conference during which he announced a new goal of administrating 200 million vaccine shots to Americans by the end of his first 100 days in office.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 2,858 registered voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.83 percentage points.
