A plurality of voters said they believe former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, should be found guilty in the murder of George Floyd, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.
Forty-seven percent of registered voters in the April 16-19 survey said Chauvin should be found guilty while 20 percent said he should be found innocent.
Thirty-three percent of respondents said they are not sure.
Sixty-two percent of Democratic voters said Chauvin should be found guilty while a plurality of independent voters, 47 percent, said the same.
Thirty-eight percent of Republican voters said they were unsure whether Chauvin should be found guilty or innocent while 31 percent said he should be found innocent and another 31 percent said he should be found guilty.
Monday marked the start of the closing arguments of Chauvin’s trial, where he is charged with the murder of George Floyd in May of 2020.
The Hill-HarrisX poll was conducted online among 2,881 registered voters. It has a margin of error of 1.83 percentage points.
