Pelosi’s favorable rating drops to 38 percent: Republican polling

Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) favorable rating has fallen to less than 40 percent over the past three months, according to Republican pollsters. 

Pelosi, who in February had a 41 percent “favorable” rating, now has a 38 percent favorable rating, according to polling data released by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). 

The NRCC noted that in districts former President Trump won in the 2020 presidential election, Pelosi’s unfavorable rating hit 60 percent. 

“Democrats in these districts are going to have an uphill battle defending their decisions to vote in lockstep with Pelosi’s socialist agenda,” the NRCC said. 

The Republican pollsters said 54 percent of respondents indicated they want to elect “a Republican who will be a check-and-balance to Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats’ agenda in Congress” while just 41 percent said they want “a Democrat who will help Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats pass their agenda in Congress,” to represent them. 

The NRCC polling was first reported by PunchBowl News in its morning newsletter. 

By comparison, a weekly tracker of prominent politician’s favorable rating compiled by pollster YouGove shows Pelosi’s rating at 42 percent as of April 17. 

The Speaker is currently facing several challenges, including getting Republicans to agree to terms of a 9/11-style commission regarding the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol and helping President Biden pass a massive infrastructure package. 

The NRCC poll was conducted April 18-21 among 1,000 voters across 85 battleground congressional districts.
