Rite Aid expands walk-in vaccine program to 17 states

Rite Aid announced Friday that it would be offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccines in each of its stores across the country.

Rite Aid is now also accommodating walk-in vaccines on a limited basis in every store,” the announcement states.

Rite Aid has more than 2,500 stores across 17 states.

Although walk-in vaccines are offered, they are limited and Rite Aid still encourages people to schedule appointments if they can.

“Enabling walk-in appointments supports customers that may not have access to internet while also meeting the need for flexibility for customers,” the announcement says.

Rite Aid is offering Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccines at their locations.

“The availability of vaccines in every Rite Aid location is a major milestone in our ongoing effort to fight COVID-19. We’ve been on the front lines since the beginning of the pandemic, working across our store footprint to bring testing and vaccines directly to local communities,” Jim Peters, chief operating officer, said.

“Vaccine availability is improving every day, and our pharmacists are ready to administer vaccines safely and efficiently, providing the benefits of pharmacist-administered vaccines in a safe and sterile environment right in your neighborhood. Also, in addition to the grassroots efforts we’ve undertaken with our community partners, the availability of these walk-in appointments provides another way for those with limited or no technology access to more easily obtain COVID vaccines. We encourage everyone to make an appointment, or walk-in, today,” Peters added.

Rite Aid joins other pharmacies and venues including city-run vaccination sites in New York City that are offering walk-in appointments for the vaccine.

The Biden administration announced Friday that more than 100 million Americans have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
