Trump assails rising crime day after shots heard at Nationals Park

Former President Trump criticized the country’s recent rise in crime the day after shots were fired near Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Trump asserted that the U.S. crime rate “is escalating at a pace we’ve never seen before,” using the current border crisis to attack President Biden on letting “unchecked” people come into the country.

“Crime in our Country is escalating at a pace we’ve never seen before. At the same time, people are pouring through our Borders totally unchecked,” Trump said in a statement on Sunday.

The former president added that the issue is “far worse” than people thought during the election cycle.

“Jails in other countries are being emptied out into the United States,” he said. “This is far worse than anyone thought during the Fake Election!”

Trump’s statement comes as at least four people were shot outside Nationals Park on Saturday. Fans attending the game were ordered to find shelter during the incident.

Saturday’s shooting comes a day after another D.C. shooting that left a 6-year-old girl dead and five adults injured.
