Pope encourages audience to take a break from stresses of modern life

Pope Francis on Sunday encouraged people to take a break from the current stresses they’re facing in today’s society, Reuters reported.

Speaking at his weekly address, the Pope told the audience to stop focusing on their “own agendas,” advising them to take much-needed breaks from their mobile phones, as well

“Let us put a halt to the frantic running around dictated by our agendas. Let us learn how to take a break, to turn off the mobile phone,” Pope Francis said. 

The Pope also called for the end of civil unrest and protests in South Africa and Cuba, urging for peace instead, though he also acknowledged that the Cuban people are suffering, according to the Reuters report. 

“I am also close to the dear people of Cuba in these difficult times, in particular to the families who especially suffer,” he said. 

This comes as the pontiff returned to the Vatican on Wednesday after having a part of his colon removed. Pope Francis, 84, spent 11 days at a medical facility recovering from his operation, Reuters noted.
