Infowars host in custody to face misdemeanor charges stemming from Jan. 6
Infowars host Owen Shroyer is in custody and facing misdemeanor charges for his alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 attack at the Capitol, according to The Associated Press.
Shroyer, host of “The War Room With Owen Shroyer” on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s website, was charged with disorderly conduct and entering a restricted area of Capitol grounds.
According to court documents, Shroyer was seen on the west side of the building next to the inauguration stage and on the steps of the east side of the Capitol on Jan. 6. He was not accused of going into the Capitol that day.
Authorities said in court filings that a day before the attack, Shroyer told a rally at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., that “Americans are ready to fight,” according to the AP.
Shroyer is one of hundreds of people who have been arrested in connection with the deadly Capitol riot.
In a video posted Sunday, Shroyer said he is innocent of all the charges against him, the AP reported.
“Quite frankly, I’m confused,” Shroyer said. “I’m confused at the allegations and the charges.”
Shroyer is scheduled to appear in Texas federal court on Monday, according to the AP.
